MANILA CITY TOUR Sightseeing in the bustling metropolis Manila starts from the financial district of Makati, with a brief stop at the American Cemetery. From there, move on to the city of Manila, the country’s capital. Arrive at Rizal Park, named in honor of the country’s national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal. After a brief picture stop, proceed to the Walled City of Intramuros to visit the remnants of Spain’s conquistadores. Travel through the cobbled streets to San Agustin Church, the country’s oldest stone church, and view its wide collection of ecclesiastical icons, vestments and other religious articles. Across it is Casa Manila, a reproduction of a 19th century house equipped with oriental and european décor, as well as Philippine antique furniture. The tour ends up at Fort Santiago, the country’s foremost cultural relic where moments in Philippine history occurred. TAGAYTAY RIDGE TOUR (Tagaytay-Taal Volcano) A 2-hour travel by land south of Manila where, at a vantage point, you can get catch a good glimpse of Taal Volcano surrounded by the gleaming waters of Taal Lake and discover why this highland village makes it an ideal weekend getaway of city-dwellers. Enjoy a native refreshment before returning to Manila. While enroute, drop by the world-famous Bamboo Organ of Las Pinas, and a local jeepney factory. HIDDEN VALLEY SPRINGS TOUR Drive through the South Expressway to the town of Alaminos and visit Hidden Valley Springs, is a 44-hectare resort of pristine vegetation and flora dotted by spring-fed pools of varying temperature that emanates from the bowels of the earth. A veritable place where one can be close to nature, Hidden Valley is believed to be a crater of an extinct volcano located 100 meters below sea level. Swimming or lazing about in one of its pools is the main activity here. PAGSANJAN FALLS TOUR After a two hour drive to the town of Pagsanjan, site of the famous Pagsanjan Falls, transfer to a dug-out canoe manned by able-bodied boatmen for the upstream ride on Pagsanjan River that is fringed by tropical vegetation and steep gorges. Skimming on rocks and boulders, arrive at the falls where you may opt for a bamboo raft-ride through the thick roaring curtain of water as it thunders down the 70ft. gorge. Experience another thrilling ride downstream as your boatman skillfully maneuvers the canoe until you reach calmer waters. Lunch at a riverside lodge before returning to Manila. VILLA ESCUDERO Villa Escudero is a quaint resort located in Tiaong, Quezon Province, about 10 kilometers south of San Pablo, and about 1.5. kilometers from the Laguna-Quezon boundary. An 800-hectare coconut plantation that dates back from Spanish times, the hacienda typifies the Filipino life style in a rural setting. Its restful ambience is ideal for a weekend getaway. Ride a carabao-driven tram for a sight-seeing tour of the plantation and watch closely as an obliging staff show how coconuts are harvested, or visit the Escudero family’s private museum which features an unusual collection of religious images, World War II relics, antique furniture, and other artifacts. CORREGIDOR TOUR A tour of this tadpole-shaped island is a ride down memory lane for war veterans and a must for history buffs as well. This island-fortress standing guard at the entrance of Manila Bay is a symbol of determined resistance of its Filipino and American defenders who fought a heroic battle against the invading Japanese forces. It has a landscape strewn with rusty gun batteries and battle-scarred buildings. The highlight of the tour is a Light and Sound Show where poignant moments of the war are shown within the dark confines of Malinta Tunnel.
